QUALITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE
THE FOCUS OF TURNER BIKES SINCE 1994
Since our founding, these words have been the guiding principles that define Turner Bikes. An ongoing process of honing, evolving, and refining the way our bikes ride. Let's ride towards a future where quality knows no compromise.
Let customers speak for us
from 189 reviewsI believe that this is Turner #7 between Suebee and I. I know my way around building out a bike, but there are always options that I prefer to discuss. DT was always on point for a lengthy conversation that went off the deep end. Much of which was about aging not so gracefully as a lifelong cyclist. Tinnitus & shoulder surgery were commingled with stem length, wheels and bar manufactures. God, I love those conversations!
Onto the bike… that moment that you sling a leg over it and clip in for the neighborhood shakedown and find yourself at home before the driveway ends is what I come to expect. The bike is on point. Although I have yet to delve into the meaty trails, I am confident the bike will deliver.
This frame is building up really nicely. I’m doing the build myself, and I appreciate the clever cable routing ports which do make running internal cables much easier. I have 2.4” Ardent tires on at this point, and they fit with lots of space for mud. I have a 140 Revelation fork on it, which feels awesome so far on my test rolls. I’m still waiting on cranks, brakes and free hub body to complete the build. Can’t wait for drier trails to try the Nitrous!

This bike is an absolute joy! It rekindles the essence of why I fell in love with mountain biking. The experience it offers is nothing short of exhilarating. Surprisingly, despite my initial concerns, I am far less battered after rides. It has changed some of my views of full suspension! The combination of its 29er wheels, titanium frame, turbo light inserts, and lower tire pressure results in a winning formula. Riding it is effortless, and I'm particularly amazed by its descending capabilities—it's an absolute thrill! I'm sending smaller jumps, just ensuring perfect landings on the backsides. The bike's speed is remarkable even when I'm not pushing it. Within just a week of owning it, I've achieved several Strava PRs and even a few top 10 spots, which, considering my age of 52, flat pedals, and being out of biking shape, speaks volumes. My dogs are wondering about the uphill drug that I am on—haha! This bike represents a significant step in the right direction. Its inherent lightness initially feels almost unnatural (having been institutionalized to heavier bikes), but you quickly adapt and come to appreciate it. Even loading and unloading it from the truck bed is a breeze due to its lightweight.
It took some time to fine-tune the cockpit setup, but ultimately, I've found that a 35mm rise bar paired with a 50mm stem provides the perfect balance of roominess and confidence-inspiring control.
The various responses on MTBR from DT over the past few years, along with several frame reviews, heavily influenced my decision to purchase this bike. I appreciate all of these comments so I could make an informed purchase!
Throughout the purchase and the build, DT answered my questions quickly and thoughtfully - thanks!
The bike came out fantastic! I love its look, and the pink makes it stand out. I have gotten lots of kudos (which is all that matters—haha)!
I couldn't be more delighted! It has reignited a newfound passion for biking within me again, which is truly remarkable!
Had to wait because the frame was on backorder and totally worth it! Such a beautiful piece. I am not sure if it was really Dave Turner who emailed me back but they were quick and friendly. It is my first Ti frame and I am so so happy with my purchase! I don't have a picture of my final build but I went with SID 120mm fork, BERD wheels, AXS XO1 drivetrain. So much fun!
The scrub frame is beautiful. Workmanship is top notch. The bike is still being built up at the bike shop, so ride reports will follow. Thanks!
These Tee’s are fantastic. Very comfortable and form fitting.
I look faster when i wear it.
Let me know when XXL comes in. Thanks again
Nice to have a spare derailleur hanger along for the ride . We have two older sultans that we enjoy riding in the woods ,but we don’t want to experience the walk out with a broken bike.
I'm not one for writing reviews but here it goes. If you have the means, you need this rig in your life!
Building a bike from the frame up is a great feeling. Even better when the bike ends up a perfect match for your terrain, style and the geo just works! The Nitrous construction is pure quality / built with attention to detail in mind. Turner support is A+ with guidance along the way if needed.
4 rides in and I keep pushing thanks to the frame compliance, light weight nature and geo/stability in the corners.
Now my only worry is what the FS bike thinks :)
I love this bike. Decided to go back to a Hard tail and purchased a Roscoe as a frame only....did not have any compliance. Started researching Ti frames and after reading MB Action, Forums and reviews....here we are. Finally got a ride on it and am blown away. DT is the nicest guy in the business and is there for his customers. I've owned many bikes... This is the one I will keep!!!
Love how the grips feel on my turner 5 spot
I recently received and build up this bike and so far have been loving it.
Ordered the large (6 foot/175 pounds) and the fit is spot on. This bike will be used for my local and some century rides. Might even throw on some larger tires and give it a go on some Nor Cal gravel this Spring.
Built the bike with mechanical Ultegra, Hed Ardennes alloy wheels, and alloy seat post/stem/handlebars. Think this will be a really good choice for my style of riding.
How does it ride? Have been really happy with the ride quality. The first thing that really impressed me was how it dampened the road vibration on crappy asphalt . Second thing is the power transfer. The beefed up bottom bracket area gets the power to the rear wheel. Third, the handling is both stable and responsive and encourages me to dig into turns a bit deeper. This is not the bike I would pick for racing(carbon fiber all day long), but it would be a great option for everything else. This bike would fit right in on the local group ride.
It’s obvious that David Turner put a lot of thought into this frame.
This bike is exactly what I was hoping for and I would happily buy this again.
One plus with Turner Bikes is that it is a small California based business. Talked with Dave several times prior to ordering and a few times during the build itself.. Great guy and very responsive.
I'm a loyal Turner rider since around 2000 and the Nitrous is another arrow in the already exceptional Turner quiver.
I'm a former downhiller/all mountain rider who's made the transition to cross-country. But I still have an itch to bomb down a hill from time to time. Nitrous is an extremely familiar feel if you're already a Turner bike alumnus, if not, consider it of surprisingly capable technical prowess, very light-weight, of adept climbing ability and of having a very nice build quality. I've stretched it's domain to include more and more technical routes and I'm very satisfied with the results.
Thanks for all the great bikes over the years Dave! And thanks for the personal attention you give all your customers. It matters!
See my stable of Turner bikes, newest (my Nitrous) to oldest, a 2004 Turner Flux, below. They're all in great riding condition!
Hard to know where to begin... So I better start with the stand outs, The customer service Dave Turner provided me is truly unique and is all around in a complete league of his own! Dave assisted with tons of insight to build out my amazing XL Nitrous and was always personal and responsive to all my questions. My XL Nitrous complete weighs about 25lbs with a set of carbon wheels to jazz up the light and fast pedal pickup. I am 6',4" 180lbs age 38. I enjoy going fast up and down, racing, short rides, and long rides. I have a full suspension XXL YT Jeffsy and a fast carbon Specialized Tarmac. This bike fits me so well, I am constantly amazed. My friends all have gravel bikes and I was always on the fence about gravel bikes because of the area I live has more loose sandy dirt roads than solid gravel roads, I was always looking for something super versatile that would fit my needs that would be a blast to ride with my lil kiddos. Than it happened, I stumbled on the Turner Bikes Tent at a local gravel race in 2022 in Mammoth Lakes and I knew I was f*&^ed (in a good must do lifes short sort of way) when I started asking questions and picked up the Nitrous frame. Fast forward to Spring 2023 I collected all my pennies and I contacted Dave and put in my order with such excitement to join the ranks of Lt Dan. with Ti!
After completing the build and enjoying countless rides on this thoroughbred, not a single issue or complaint has come up. All Smiles! Its SOLID and capable in varied terrain. It demands more focus and attention than my YT but that is why I love riding it so much. I have ridden it hard and had some bigger sections that would have been better to have my YT but the dang Nitrous handles like a nimble light duty tank. I def find myself having to truly push myself to take out the YT just to keep it in the mix and of course when the rough, chunky trails, bike park days and full on gravity days the YT just makes more sense. This bike owns single track and dirt trails and is so fun to climb on. Tracks like a champ when going fast and is super stable and responsive, I have to remind myself that there is no squish in the rear. Thats where having lots of bikes makes things so interesting and fun.
I just raced my Nitrous at the 2023 Mammoth Tuff Gravel Race 107miles and 7500ft of climbing and I was psyched that I was comfortable in the saddle and in the upright only position for 8 plus hours of endurance racing. During this race, I was relieved to be able to drop the saddle and have such a solid cockpit to manage through the super loose sections and was ripping through the corners with such speed. I even beat a super strong local rider who was on a gravel bike for a sprint finish and was thrilled by the power transmission into this bike as the power just continued exploding through to the finish. This long ride was the final check for me and I will be continuing to ride and race this on all sorts of formats that include dirt, from local summer mtn bike short races to all out endurance races. If only there were some magical drop like bars I could include with minimal changes to the setup... Thank You Dave Turner for all the effort to build rad bikes and stoke people out along the way. I have a new and appropriate understanding of the term customer service thanks to you. Riding a Ti Bike is no longer a far off dream for me.
Just wanted to thank Dave for all the tec questions and personal care. This hands down is my favorite bike that I currently own. Love the way it rips and handles the geometry is great for where I ride.I hope to equip it some day for some bike packing trips in the near future.
Thanks again Dave and everybody at Turner bikes 👍
