On Saturday February 6th of 2010, the San Diego Mountain Biking Association [ SDMBA ] held a Volunteer Appreciation Gala for all of the hard workers who donated their time to help maintain and build MTB trails throughout San Diego County. Special recognition went to the sole person who had accrued the most volunteered hours in 2009. Erik Mikelson was honored with this distinction and was awarded a $1,000 gift certificate by David Turner for his hard work.

Congratulations Erik and we here at Turner Bikes hope you will soon find yourself riding a new Turner down a trail you helped save!

Tuesday December 15, 2009 // Turner News // The Turner Sultan Wins //              [back to the top]
2009 is coming to a close and now is the time we start thinking about this past year. Remembering the great rides we had and the bad ones. Thinking about all the things we had hoped to accomplish and whether next year will be the year to get everything done. In hindsight, things can look a little blurry as we try to remember all the details. . .

But above all, one memory has survived untarnished. The Riders spoke out on mtbr.com and the Turner Sultan was voted the Best 29er of 2009. This is the Sultan's second consecutive year with this esteemed title.

The Riders chose the bike that made this year better with memories of rocketing down winding single track. Feeling the clean crisp air fill their lungs as they pushed through each climb. The narrowly missed crashes and the stories that unfolded with each ride. The Turner Sultan is the tool of choice for our escape from reality, sanctuary from the stressors of each of life's days.

For those lucky souls to ride a Turner Sultan this year, remember why you spoke out and chose the Sultan as your ride of the year. For those of you who are riding another 29er, now is the time to think back and wonder how much better this year could have been with the riders choice of the year as your steed.

Monday September 13, 2009 // Turner News // Emmeline Ragot: World Champion!! //              [back to the top]

Emmeline Ragot is the 2009 World Downhill Champ!!

On September 6th in Canberra Australia, Emmeline took first with a 2.49 second lead. Note that while still nursing a broken ankle, Emmeline has had a very strong season with so many second place standings. She really earned this win!!

Emmeline had this much to say, "My run was ok, I made a lot of mistakes, I was so loose. And I pedal so hard for the finish."

"I couldn't see the [TV] screen it was behind something, and I was wondering if Sabrina crashed or not," said Ragot. "When I saw the result it was good. The win is only sinking in now that I have the rainbow [jersey], and I am just realising that it has happened."

Congratulations Emmeline!!!

Saturday August 1, 2009 // Turner News // Kelly McGarry: Update //              [back to the top]

Our good friend Kelly McGarry has been traveling Europe, Norway, and now off into the great Canada. Here is what he has to say:
Hi Guys,
As my Europe trip is nearing its end. I wanted to take the time to say thank you for all your help, without it the trip wouldn't have been possible.
For the 7 weeks I have travelled around Europe in an ugly white Opel Combo stacked with my bikes and gear then ditched the wagon and flew to Norway.
The trip has been amazing, I rode in 11 different countries and entered 6 slopestyle and dirt jump competitions:
            • King of Dirt - Italy - 8th place
            • Bike Days Festival - Switzerland - 10th place
            • FISE MTB slopestyle France - 12th place
            • FISE Experience slopestyle - France - 5th place
            • Scott on Air - Germany - 4th place
            • ANTI - Days Of Thunder - 1st team DH relay

This trip has heightened my profile as an International rider and it has been excellent exposure for all the products I ride/wear. I have had a lot of readership on my blog www.kellymcgazza.blogspot.com and way too many random friend requests on facebook!
Now it's back to USA/Canada for more riding and comps - Goat Style Bike Jam, Highlands Claymore Challenge, Colorado Crankworx and I've been invited to ride in the VW Trick showdown at Whistler Crankworx which is the qualifier for the slopestyle... So thats Cool!
Thanks again for all the support and I hope to keep riding hard for the rest of the summer!

Cheers
Kelly Mcgarry
