turnerbikes

Building American made suspension mountain bikes since 1994, Turner Suspension Bikes has been at the forefront of suspension mountain bike technologies for one very important reason. . . because we ride what we build. We simply design and build suspension mountain bikes that are meant to be ridden hard, purely because we prefer riding our bikes over fixing them. The way we see it - a suspension mountain bike should be able to ride through the mud without destroying the pivot bearings, it should be able to effortlessly ride on the side of a rut and then not chatter over a series of roots down the trail, it should inspire confidence with speed and encourage you to pedal up that next climb without a second thought, and it should have a company behind it that is willing to back up every claim with excellent customer service when you need it most. Performing and enduring is what every Turner suspension mountain bike was born to do.

Turner Rider Spotlight

Rider: David Redding
Bike: 2013 Flux
Location: Pasadena CA

“I rode the Flux and gave it a serious run up Brown and down El Prieto. I was 3+ minutes faster up the 4.67 mile climb than I’ve managed on my 5 Spot, and was super impressed with how it handled the washboard and slice-and-dice technical trail on the way down.

Might have PRed there too, if I hadn’t stopped to do a bit of trail clearing.”

David,

That’s exactly what we like to see, Riders ‘killing it’ on their Turners! . . . The 27.5 Flux’s new shaped tubing is lighter and stiffer than the pervious Flux but the updated geometry and boost in travel from 100 to 120mm really take the new Flux to the next level! And we’re not even getting into what the new wheel size does for both handling and general feel of the bike.

Turner Bicycles Auctions Bike for SoCal High School Cycling League

Murrieta, CA – For the fourth year in a row, Turner Suspension Bicycles is throwing its support behind youth mountain bike racing by auctioning off a new bike with 100% of proceeds going to the SoCal High School Cycling League.  Turner was there at the dawn of creation of full-suspension mountain bikes, and in 2009 was there to support the efforts of a few pioneers who brought mountain bike racing to schools all over Southern California.

According to Matt Gunnell, Executive Director of the SoCal High School Cycling League “… the SoCal League grown from less than 200 riders on less than 20 teams to over 500 riders on nearly 50 teams. Turner the company has been a big part of supporting and sustaining that growth. Turner the person has become an ally, a parent, a coach. And Turner the son has gone from a rangy freshman to a solid maturing Varsity student-athlete. We greatly appreciate everything the Turner name has brought to the League!”

David Turner added ”I have happily supported the League because I believe in mountain biking as a life-long past time whether as a hobby, sport or transportation. Turner Bikes involvement is about putting kids on bikes so that they ride bikes for life.   An unexpected benefit to the team has been the number of parents that have become riders because of their exposure to mountain biking through their high school student being a part of the team. Moms and dads that may never have ridden seriously are buying equipment and learning a new athletic hobby and are bringing bikes to the races so they can see first hand the race course on the Saturday pre-ride. This kind of change has a great impact on the family bonds, as well as their health.”

So what better way to support the sport than to jump in and submit a bid for a new Turner Flux 27.5?  You can check out the bike and submit your offer oneBay.  100% of proceeds go the League.

We just got back from the 2013 Sea Otter Classic, and to say the least, it was as big as ever. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled over the next couple months for more sneak peeks of the Czar. The media and spectators alike where all over our new XC Racer!

The word so far is above our expectations. . . . The Czar is yet another Turner to raise the bar when it comes to how a mountain bike should ride!

Turner Bicycles Debuts the Czar Carbon Mountain Bike

Murietta, Calif. (April 16, 2013) – High performance bicycle designer and manufacturer Turner Bicycles presents its first carbon mountain bike, a full-suspension, 100 mm travel, 29r aimed directly at the marathon/XC racer. Using Toray high modulus carbon fibers, the Czar embodies Turner Suspension Bicycles’ track record of producing national-championship winning bikes that offer a feeling of both refinement and effortless handling.

“We’re going to place the carbon bikes in our line where we feel they’re most advantageous to the type of rider they’re aimed at,” says Turner Bicycles’ founder David Turner. “We’re going to look at those people who are hyper conscious about saving every gram they can.”

Led by bicyclist David Turner, Turner Bicycles has been making high performance suspension mountain bicycle frames since 1994. We’ve earned our winning reputation by delivering performance, pedaling efficiency, and reliability—and have a large following of devoted Turner Riders who have come to rely on the progressive evolution of our bikes and our exceptional customer service. This is one we have been rolling around here for a while, since a few weeks back when the nice guys over at Velosurance sent us some information on their new bicycle hinged insurance company. And while, admittedly, we scuffed at the idea on first glance we then realized how this type of service made sense. Mountain bikes cost a good share of your hard earned funds and we all know what it feels liked when you taco a wheel or regrettably drive your ride into the roof of your garage. Thus the point being is the unexpected happens everyday to some poor soul and when it is your ticket being called wouldn’t it be nice to know that someone has your back?

Enter Velosurance. . . for as little as one hundred dollars a year, that’s .27 cents a day, you can have the same piece of mind that millions of people already pay to protect that little brick of technology which is rarely used as an actual phone. And obviously this wouldn’t be for everyone but I know there are a few of us out there that not only revolve our lives around our mountain biking needs and also have a considerable amount of capital invested in such rides. Velosurance is a national insurance agency founded by two cyclists in response to the insurance needs of bicycle riders nationwide. After more than 3 years of development they have partnered with an A rated, US insurance company to introduce a multi risk policy offering protection to all types of cyclists.

Check them out, worst case it’s simply not for you. http://velosurance.com

Turner Burner Mountain Bike

Mountain Bike Mag Chooses The Turner Burner as one of their 13 favorite rides for 2013.

Turner Burner 27.5

Why It’s Cool: One of the best 27.5 bikes we’ve ridden

The Burner 27.5 uses the proven DW-Link suspension system to deliver 140mm of bump-absorbing travel. It pedals crisply, yet remains smooth and supple over rough terrain. While company founder David Turner was initially resistant to 29-inch wheels, he has embraced the 27.5 standard, and the Burner is one of the best bikes of the breed. With a 67-degree head angle, the bike is relatively maneuverable, but steady on steep descents. The revamped Burner comes with 142x12mm rear thru-axle, ISCG 05 tabs and a 44mm headtube that is compatible with tapered steerers. The new model will be available in December and sold as a frame only ($2,300) or as a complete bike (prices range from $5,580 to $8,000 with Enve carbon wheels).

BikeRadar recently got their hands on an anodized blue Turner Sultan and wrote this positively tidy review for it. Below is a short selection of their assessment of our beloved 29er to get your jowls watering.

Dave Turner’s Sultan was one of the first full suspension 29ers. This updated version is a beautifully made and immaculately conceived frameset that harks back to old glories but is still a confidence-boosting, technical trail cruiser if you prefer handbuilt alloy art over carbon. . .

When we were totally blinded by dust but still tipping into the backlit turn smoothly, the Sultan soothed what should be screaming nerves. While the big wheels dampen the sense of speed, there’s no denying the fact that the brakes need to be dabbed to stop the Sultan rear-ending whoever is dropping down in front. . . [..read more..]
