Leif Lorenzen: Turner Racer

MBA Test: The Turner DHR, Low-And-Slack Aluminum Rocket Ship

MBA Test: The Turner DHR, Low-And-Slack Aluminum Rocket Ship

Mountain Bike Action Mag just did a Bike Review on the Turner DHR in their June 2012 issue. The MBA crew piloted the DHR, probed and studied the intrinsic details, compiled their data and opinions, and came to their incisive judgement with clear resolve. . .

Want to go fast? simply put, the DHR is purpose built for one simple reason. Their answer  -  ”I wanna go fast”

Below is an excerpt from the article, enjoy.

Turner has been making the DHR since 2000, and since its inception, it has been a privateer racer’s dream bike. It has been through four iterations, and many of the previous generations can still be seen in the lift lines at bike parks worldwide. This is not a disposable bike; it’s an investment that will serve the fast downhill rider for years to come. While the first generations are still favorites of downhill racers around the world, this DHR is designed to smash the previous ones and live on the cutting edge of performance. . . The DHR is a downhill race bike that’s clearly designed to level the ground and lay waste to rocks, roots and chutes. The DHR likes to descend at Mach 5 with the rider’s hair on fire. . . [..ReadMore..]

Dirtragmag.com Turner DHR review

Dirtragmag.com : Turner DHR Review

Turner Bicycles lays claim to offering the world’s first production downhill bike, so it’s no surprise David Turner continues to push the limits of production race bikes. After all, the downhill market has evolved substantially since 1996 when Turner’s Afterburner delivered a whopping 3.6” of rear wheel travel. . . [..read more..]

Dirt Rag mag just delivered a stunning Turner DHR review and, if you haven’t yet, this one should be on your must read list. There is nothing less skeptical or more breathtaking than throwing a leg over a Turner DHR and seeing for yourself why it is the privateer’s champion of choice. But in the meantime, this detailed review will have to suffice. . .

2011 Turner Bikes Inter-Bike Booth

2011 Turner Bikes Inter-Bike Booth

Interbike was an amazing success for TURNER SUSPENSION BIKES. When we thought Interbike was dying, we were wrong.

With our existing quality and added features for 2012, the TURNER booth had a steady flow of dealers and distributors visiting to see all our models at Interbike.

At TURNER we stress the importance of every detail that matters in building, riding, and living mountain bikes.  These details are embodied in our 2012 designs from the tubing, commissioned new suspension, detailed new cables guides, thru-axles, larger headtube and new sublime anodized colors.

All of our improvements come from tireless R & D, more miles ridden and countless conversations with TURNER riders. We are excited about our 2012 product line and we are delighted to say the entire line of TURNER bikes was received positively at Interbike.

The importance and emphasis on every detail of TURNER SUSPENSION BIKES will give you a great riding experience.

We want to extend a big thanks to everyone who stopped by the TURNER booth to say hi!

Oregan Super-D #2 Bend Podium Shot

Going into my fourth race of the season, I recognized that lots of  practice time is imperative to being competitive in enduro events. To prepare for Bend, I arrived four days before race day to begin practicing and learning the course. The course was very flat and pedally and obviously catered to XC racers. On race day, I had a solid start but held back in the early turns, knowing that they had been blown out in practice the day before.  After I made it through the log ride and the few drops in the course, I knew I could start to really suffer with out any major consequences. By the end of the run, my preparation and efforts payed off, earning a 5th place finish. Here is the link to the full race run in two parts shot with a GoPro HD.

DHR on there way to Crested Butte ProGRT event

We have just returned from the Crested Butte ProGRT event. A good time was had by all, and I feel we made a great showing for the team and Turner Bikes. It was fun meeting people on the road who were Turner fans, the trailer made an impression everywhere we went. We were treated to free beer at the Hot Tomato in Frutia by Turner Loyalists, and we offered rides on our 5Spots and the Proto RFX at a number of locations.

I was also able to help a few different riders with small parts for their Turners. A round tube d hanger and a few shock mount bolts went a long way towards reinforcing riders love for the brand. Each time I was met with disbelief when I refused to take any money for the parts.
I have attached a couple of photos, and we will have a album up on our FB page shortly.” – Jesse Chuse, Team Manager

Congratulations to Darian Harvey on piloting her DHR to a first place finish in the Pro Women

Angel Fire was a short trek of about five hours south from Durango. I drove down Friday morning with fellow racer Darian Harvey. Well actually, Darian drove while I caught up on sleep after a late night of prepping bikes and packing. The Super D course was a blast; it had everything including high speed straits, burmed turns, flat loose turns, and of course sweet jumps. Here is a link to a practice run. Angelfire Practice Run

The race started out pretty well. After the first turn I managed to work my way from near last to fifth. I managed two passes  when the course opened up onto one of the ski runs. I thought all was good only to get passed right before flatting about a quarter of the way down the course. Here is a link to the race run. Angelfire Race Run
